Stanza 4 Commentary

A human body with all leisure and fortunes-the five self-acquired privleges and the five benefits given [by the Buddha]-is difficult to find, and because life cannot be extended and has uninterupted diminishment, it is not lasting. Through repeatedly familiarizing the mind with this method, emphasis on the appearances of this life are reversed. If one thinks again and again of the inevitability of the arising of good and bad effects from accumulated white and black actions, then emphasis on the appearances [leading to] seeking merely the rank of the high status of mundane gods and humans in future lives.
