Non-Associated Compositional Factors
which are Non-Persons

Non-person non-associated compositional factors are a division of the
third type of functioning thing , non-associated compositional factor. These
are of twenty-three types which are called ‘designation to states.’ For instance, ‘acquisition’ is designated to
a state of the increase and decrease of the virtues and so forth, of which there are two types: ‘finding
acquisition’ which is the new attainment of such increase or decrease, and ‘possessive acquisition’ which is
the retention of it.

- absorbtion without discrimination (asamjnisamapatti. ‘du shes med pa’i snyoms ‘jug)
- absorbtion of cessation (nirodhasamapatti, ‘gog pa’i snyoms ‘jug)
- one having no discrimination (asamjnika, ‘du shes med pa pa)
- life faculty (jivitendriya, srog gi dbang po)
- similarity of type (nikayasabhagata, rigs ‘thun pa)
- birth (jati, skye ba)
- aging (jara, rga ba)
- duration (sthiti, gnas pa)
- impermanence (anityata, mi rtag pa)
- group of stems (namakaya, ming gi tshogs)
- group of word (padakaya, tshig gi tshogs)
- group of letters (vyanjanakaya, yi ge’i tshogs)
- state of an ordinary being (prthagjanatva, so so skye bo nyid)
- continuity (pravrtti, ‘jug pa)
- distinction (pratiniyama, so sor nges pa)
- relatedness (yoga, ‘byor ‘grel)
- rapidity (java, ‘gyogs pa)
- order (anukrama, go rim)
- time (kala, dus)
- area (desha, yul)
- number (samkhya, grangs)
- collection (samagri, tshogs pa)
